Information about Speaking

The annual OAVT Conference is the largest RVT (Registered Veterinary Technician) event in Canada. Presented virtually in 2021, the OAVT Conference is prepared for either and in-person or virtual event.


Speaker Requirements
All speakers must be considered subject matter experts on their field. Medical topics must be presented by DVMs or Registered/Licensed Veterinary Technicians (or equivalent designation in your area).

Speakers from outside of Canada must be prepared to present all material using the metric system and focus on content pertinent to animal health in Canada (Ex. Pharamaceuticals and treatment protocols)

Based on the OAVT's compensation policy, speakers will receive $250 per speaking hour and $50 for on-time submission of session materials.

Session materials for virtual presentations include 10 quiz questions that align with your presentation.

Session materials for in-person presentations include a scientifically formatted session manuscript.

All lecture sessions are expected to include a minimum of 50 minutes of content, with 10 minutes for questions.
Speakers are expected to present in engaging and unique formats including audience interaction throughout the presentation.
